Rocky Crossing Telephone Office


Located 46 Kms from Queanbeyan in the far south of the Australian Capital Territory the office opened as a telephone office on 23 December 1934, operated by L V Gregory. A manual telephone exchange opened on 19 November 1936. The office closed on 11 November 1972 with subscribers transferred to Top Naas small country automatic exchange. 

The Office utilised a Type 2C date stamp. inscribed N.S.W. Examples of the date stamp are rare. The example depicted below is ex Alan Sailsbury and provided courtesy of Australia Post's Philatelic Archives, Philatelic Group.
