Kippax Post Office

Located in the Kippax shopping centre complex, Kippax Place, Holt, approximately 13 kms north west of the City centre, the Kippax post office opened as a post and telephone office with money order facilities on 1 November 1976. The office was operated by L A Wheatley. The office became an official post office on 2 July 1979. It subsequently became a licensed post office on 1 July 1993 and is located in Shop 24 Hardwicke Crescent, Holt.

At 1 January 2020 Kippax LPO was operating from Shop 24 Kippax Fair, 48 Hardwick Crescent HOLT, A.C.T. 2615.

An impression of a date stamp inscribed,  HOLT - A.C.T. 2615, located on an official post office file in the National Archives of Australia, suggests that the initial date stamp prepared for the Kippax Post Office, was wrongly inscribed. There is no evidence to support the date stamp ever having been officially issued to or used by the Office.

The office utilized a Type 4A(i)T ‘ACT’ post code 2615 date stamp recorded between 1976 and 1995. A Type 4E(i)T ‘ACT’ date stamp is recorded between  1980 and 1989.

A.C.T. Relief date stamp '126' was in use at the Office in early October 1987 as was Priority Paid Relief '207'.
