Lyons Post Office

Located in Lyons Place at the Lyons shopping centre, 10 kms south west from the City centre in the Woden Valley district, Lyons post office opened as a post and telephone office with money order facilities in the Community Centre on 31 January 1967.

The office utilized a Type 3D(i) ‘ACT’ date stamp recorded between 1967 and 1995.

A.C.T. AUST Relief 108 is believed to have been in use at the Office on 25 May 1972.

A.C.T. Relief date stamp '148' is recorded in use during Jan/Feb 1983 whilst the regular date stamp was being repaired. Postmistress at that time was Sue Costigan.
