Belconnen Post Office 


Belconnen Post Office, located approximately 8 kms north west of Canberra City centre in the newly constructed Belconnen Mall opened as an official post office on Monday 4 December 1978. The post office was located at Shop 106A on Level One. The Office provided a delivery service to the suburbs of Kaleen, Giralang, Spence, Evatt, Melba, Fraser, Charnwood, Flynn, Macgregor, Latham, Holt & Higgins.

At 1 January 2020, Belconnen Post Office was operating from Shop 23/20 Belconnen Mall, Benjamin Way, Belconnen, A.C.T. 2617.


The office utilized a Type 4A (i) ‘ACT’ post code 2617 date stamp transferred from the Belconnen Mail Delivery Centre and recorded in 1981. It later utilized a Type 4E(i)(T) ‘ACT’ date stamp recorded between 1981 and 1992 and Type 4E(i) x 4 date stamps recorded in use 1981 and 1988. Type 4F ‘ACT’ date stamp is recorded in 1987.

A.C.T. Relief date stamp '127' was used at an annex to the Office in December 1986 at the Belconnen Shopping Mall. It closed on Christmas Eve. A.C.T. Relief '147' was seen used at the Office on 22 October 1987.
