Charnwood Post Office
Charnwood is located in the district
of Belconnen approximately 15 kms north west
of Canberra City Centre. A post and telephone office
opened on 20 March 1978 at premises in Charnwood Place at the Charnwood Shopping
Centre.
The office relocated to space at the
rear of the Charnwood newsagency in the late eighties and continues to operate
from that location (last checked 1 January 2020).
Relief date stamp '108' ACT-AUST was utilised on opening and until the regular date stamp arrived in mid June 1978. It was again seen used at this Office on 27 May 1988. The office utilized a Type 4E(i) ‘ACT’
post code 2615 date stamp recorded between 1978 and 1987.
