Tuggeranong Mail Delivery Centre opened on 20 September 1977.

A.C.T. Relief date stamp '148' was used at the Centre from 12 April to 18 June 1985.

Canberra GPO


Canberra General Post Office




Located in the Canberra Jolimont Centre, Alinga Street, Canberra City, the post office opened as an official post office on 12 April 1983 replacing Canberra City post office. Postmaster was R D Rodda. The Office was still operating from this site in January 2020.

The office utilized Type 4E(i)(T) ‘GPO CANBERRA / ACT 2601’ codes ‘4,6,8,10,11’ date stamps recorded between 1983 and 1988. A Type 4E(i) code ‘5’ date stamp is recorded between 1987 and 1988. A Type 4E(ii)(T) ‘ACT’ code ‘RS’ date stamp is recorded in use in 1985. A Type 4F ‘M/R’ code ‘10’ date stamp is recorded between 1990 and 1991.

A.C.T. Relief date stamp '108' is recorded used at the GPO Canberra on 19 May 1989 and at the Philatelic Counter on 20 October 1989, whilst normal date stamp is being repaired. A.C.T. Relief '126' was reported used at the Office between 16 March and 26 March 1984 and A.C.T. Relief '127' used in the telegrams section between 21 March 1984 and 26 March 1984. It was also seen again on 13 July 1984. A.C.T. Relief '148' was in use at the Office during late November to early December 1986.

Priority Paid Relief '186' was seen used at the Office on 21 September and 14 October 1982. Priority Paid Relief '185' was seen used at the Office on 20 March 1987.














 







































Yarralumla (II)


Yarralumla (II) Post Office


Yarralumla (II) Post Office, previously West Ridge Post Office was so named on 22 March 1953 and operated from the residence of Postmaster Mr M Johnson in Hutchins Street. On 30 May 1953 it relocated to the new Yarralumla Shopping Centre where it remained until 1st May 1955 when it was moved to the residence of Mrs K. M. Reed in Hutchins Street. It was a licensed post office by September 1997 and located in Bentham Street at the Yarralumla shopping centre.

In September 2018, the Licensed Post Office was located in a flower shop at 25 Bentham Street, Yarralumla before closing in March 2019. Australia Post announced at the time that services would be offered from the local supermarket (next door).

As at February 2020, the Licensed Post Office was located at 1/23 Bentham Street, Yarralumla in the local IGA store. 

The Office is believed to have used A.C.T. Relief double letter cut-down 'T R' on opening. The Office also used Type 3(i) & Type 4(i) date stamps.
