Mawson Post Office


Located on Mawson Drive at Southlands shopping centre, Mawson, 13 kms from the City centre in the Woden Valley district, an automatic telephone exchange was established at Mawson on 31 May 1967. An official post office opened on 3 March 1969. J W Whitfield was appointed postmaster on 24 April 1969.

As at February 2020, Mawson Post Shop is located at Southlands Shopping Centre, 99 Mawson Place, Mawson A.C.T.

On opening the office utilized Relief date stamp ‘126 ACT AUST’. A Type 4A(i) ‘ACT’ post code 2607 is recorded between 1972 and 1990 and a Type 4A(i)T ‘ACT’ date stamp is recorded between 1991 and 1992.
