Corin Dam Post Office
Located 53
kms west of Queanbeyan in the Australian Capital Territory on the Upper Cotter River, the office was
established on 4 October 1966 to service workers employed in construction of
the Corin Dam, an extension of the Cotter Dam network. The office opened as a
post and telephone office with money order facilities under the management of Postmistress Mrs D.M. Wilton. The office closed on 1
March 1968.
On opening
the office utilized Relief date stamp ‘STL ACT’ cut-down from a redundant Westlake date-stamp. The Office subsequently used a Type 3E(i)
‘ACT’ date stamp recorded in use in 1967.
