Bulga Creek Post Office

Bulga Creek in the District of Stromolo is south of the Cotter River and flows into the Murrumbidgee River. A receiving office was established at that location on 20 July 1887 and later a post office on 7 October 1889. Post master was W McClafferty. McClafferty was the blacksmith at Yarralumla Station and the post office operated from his shop by the road leading from Queanbeyan to Uriarra. The office was later changed to Yarralumla (I) on 1 January 1892 and Cotter Junction on 1 May 1908.

The office reportedly utilised a numeral obliterator No. ‘1494’ and a Type 1D(i) date stamp neither of which have been seen.
